Mostly pantsless 2011: Same ol' outfit, new accessories

This outfit was kind of a staple for MP2011. My cotton t-shirt LBD with black tights or leggings, my black flat lace up boots (not pictured because they were already put away and I was lazy), a belt, and whatever colorful things I could think to throw in.
Well, today's colorful tidbits brought to you by:
This lovely new Converse jacket/sweater I bought
The charming necklace my mom gave me for Christmas
And my freshly re-dyed hair

And the following picture is slightly awful, but you can see the front of the cardigan thing better in this one

Mostly pantsless 2011: A cute way to go pantsless in the winter

I wore this outfit to work a couple days before Christmas (I was displaced from my usual spot on the cafe and was working a music department shift, thus the addition of color to my outfit)

What you can see is my awesome pantsless outfit, and my wonderful new work shoes. What I forgot to take a picture of is the adorable flower I had in my hair. Darn!

Mostly pantsless 2011 AND song challenge day 3: Blame it on the Girls

This is a song I've been hoping to do since I came up with this idea last December. In fact, now that I've fulfilled it, I may quit the song challenge and just go back to Mostly Pantsless 2011, because I'll be honest: I'm getting a little bored of the song thing already. (Short attention span, anyone?)

So, as can be seen in the video, (here is the link again) the theme of the outfits is inspired by that one musical that I always forget the name of (yeah, that was impressive knowledge right there)... most importantly, there is a feminine side, and a more masculine side. I felt I could capture this best by building two different outfits around the same general idea. One super, super feminine, the other with a more "masculine" twist. Furthermore, there is an interview with Mika that can be found somewhere in the depths of Youtube explaining the concept behind the song... the rich businessman who thinks he has all these problems, and wants to blame everyone but himself, primarily all the people who would use their wily and evil ways to distract him (yes, including boys... one of the lines in the song is in fact "blame it on the boys who keep hitting on you")... so even the more masculine outfit needed to still be super feminine.

So, the similarities are the shirt (I love this shirt to death, I really do. It's so comfy, so versatile, I feel so skinny in it no matter what, and even being plain and versatile, it's probably the most girly shirt I've ever owned in my life), the accessories, and the style of shoes (though I did make a point of changing the actual shoes)

So, the incredibly feminine outfit:

And the more masculine outfit:

Just in case I do try again tomorrow, the song will be:
Chain Gang of Love, by The Raveonettes

Mostly pantsless 2011 AND song challenge day 2: Silhouette Serenade

Oops, I'm a day late!
Not to worry, I DID get everything done yesterday, I just... absolutely failed at having time to get onto the computer.
In this case, I decided the key word was "silhouette"... I wanted to create an outfit with a good one... furthermore, I felt delicate and feminine was key.

Song for day 3 (aka today!):

Mostly pantsless 2011 AND song challenge day 1: Evidence

I really had no clue where to go with this song, but somehow, I came up with a weird idea to do something that seemed simultaneously sexy, and like something a little girl would wear to a birthday party. Not lolita... dear god no. More like "innocence that is more or less a lie"... the song strikes me as one in which someone goes to great lengths to attain someone that seems wonderful, only to have the wonderful person destroy everything and try to pretend nothing is wrong. That is where I ended up going, outfit wise:

Tomorrow, I will be attempting an outfit inspired by:

Silhouette Serenade, by Vendetta Red

Mostly pantsless 2011: the best shot to come out of my attempted "pin-up girl photoshot"

One day, I'll do a photo shoot for real. In the meantime, this is what my hair looks like right after being dyed, and this is the outfit to go with it:

Going for the music challenge again...

I'll just be sticking with the general playlist I've been hooked on this year.
Besides, September is the best month to do it in... it's the perfect weather for layering but still getting to wear some summery clothes, so I feel like there's a much better opportunity for creativity.

Will be starting tomorrow with an outfit inspired by:

Evidence, by Jimmy Eat World

I also have a couple of pictures from last week that I took for fun... just my usual blue and white dress, but I did re-do my hair (and it's the best dye job yet), and attempted (and probably failed miserably) at posing accordingly. I'll try to get around to putting those up tomorrow.

Mostly pantsless 2011: the art of layering

I tried something new the other day... used my sweater to create the silhouette of the outfit, belted on the outside of the sweater to create an interesting touch. I also added my new charming moss green tights to the mix, since I'm in such a fall mood.
I'm really proud of how the outfit turned out.

Mostly pantsless 2011: transitioning into fall

The majority of my clothes are shared across seasons... my huge collection of scarves and cardigans, and my love of tights and leggings to make any skirt or dress on the planet fall and winter friendly makes this possible. Obviously, I own a few things that don't really transition that well: I don't do the shorts and tights things, so the few pairs I do own only see the light of day when it's hot out. I have a couple pairs of sandals that look ridiculous with tights, and get saved for those days when it's warm enough to go barefoot. And my one and only pair of flats are a trashed up pair reserved for the beach (since I don't have any flip-flops in the shoe collection... any and all sandals are heels and classy looking). Of course, the same goes for my winter wardrobe... a few of my scarves are just too warm to be used to accessorize in the summer, my wool pea coat is impractical for anything over 40 degrees, and I keep long sleeved shirts as pretty much a cold weather only staple. The rest of my wardrobe is totally layer friendly and pretty much a year round thing. But as stated last year, I LOVE fall looks. Today is warm-ish, but just cool enough to make thinking about fall clothing slightly practical.
So, took a short, short-sleeved LBD, and made a fall friendly outfit that still works for summer:

The button down is really, really thin, lightweight fabric (and is Converse for Target, around $25), so it doesn't add much extra warmth for a day like today, but it keeps the outfit looking great for fall.
I love the look of the zipper on the leggings and the buckle on the shoes right to each other... not only does it balance out the belt, it also keeps the outfit looking very "rock", which I do tend to strive for.

A side note about these shoes:
They are Madden Girl, which I'd never bought before, and was surprised to find that they were unbearably uncomfortable at first. It took a few times wearing them, but they broke in excellently, and now are probably the most comfortable pumps I own. I normally wear a 6 or 6.5 W, these are a 6.5 M and fit absolutely perfectly.

Mostly pantsless 2011: my favorite look this summer

Just a basic dress look for me... loving how relaxed and easy it is to wear, yet still so stylish and put together...
